Trenching and Utility Excavation
Trenching and Utility Excavation in Bozeman
Ofaolains cuts trenches for water, sewer, gas, electrical, and drainage lines across Bozeman with proper bedding under the pipe and compacted backfill over it. We set the line to grade, protect the trench per OSHA rules, and restore the surface so the run disappears once the ground is seeded or paved. A utility trench is only as good as the bedding and the compaction around it.
Why Trench Safety Is Not Optional
OSHA Subpart P requires a protective system in any cut five feet deep or greater, and we treat that as a hard line. We slope, bench, or drop a trench box depending on the soil, and a competent person inspects the cut daily. In river cobble or a wet spring water table, that protection is what keeps a crew safe off Rouse Avenue or anywhere else in the valley.
Our Process
We call 811 two business days ahead so every existing line is marked, then excavate to depth with the right protective system in place. We bed the pipe in sand or approved material, set it to grade, and backfill in lifts, compacting to 95 percent density so the surface holds. Final restoration returns the ground to a gradeable, seedable state.
